"Occupy" protesters gear up for Monday demonstrations

Over the weekend there was a gathering in many cities across Canada related to the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations that had taken place in New York.  People from around the greater Toronto region gathered at a park to show their support of the cause in a peaceful manner.  Organizers had used a social media webpage to communicate the event and were figuring out their approach for when businesses would re-open in the Financial District on Monday.  The article stated that there were two possible routes for protesters from different organizations, but the main concern for police would be how the march would impact people trying to get to work Monday morning.  Throughout the country there are concerned citizens about the gap between those with money and those without.

After reading the article I was able to gain a better appreciation for exactly what was going on, and how some Canadians were feeling towards the situation.  It will be interesting to see how many people show up on Monday, in Toronto, for the demonstration.  Usually when you hear about protests which are worldwide, there is a degree of vandalism, or things eventually get out of hand.  It's nice to hear that so far this has been a peaceful demonstration, and I hope that it continues to be for the days to come.  After reading a related article (link below) it is interesting to see that there is no cohesion between the protesters.  “As one annoyed participant said during one of the meetings: “I’m not even sure what we are discussing right now.”  It will take better communication and organization to have an effective protest in my opinion.
